To people who say that LA County is Mexifornia, I say, check out San Benito County. Of course, in San Benito's case, they have many who are descendants of the Californios, and added to them, all the more recent arrivals. Interestingly, my county (San Mateo) is among the more Latino ones among the inner counties - so, even with La Mission SF is not as Hispanic as it is down here.

Eso Si Que Es!

The vast majority of residents are not descendants of Californios. They are "newer" arrivals.

You are on the right track here. It's not just the vast majority of residents who are not decedents of the Californios, absolutely none of them are. Residents only include the living, so decedents and residents are two mutually exclusive groups. Though I guess you could make a case for residents of graveyards, but that's usually a case of someone trying to being flippant.

So says the Vocabulary Nazi.
