better yet, 105 east, 605 south, 91 east, 5 south, exit disneyland dr. you'll want to drive on the 5 as little as possible, it's only 3 lanes in each direction through southeastern LA county and is nearly always jammed.

91 east from the 605 to the 5 is worse than going the extra mile or so to the 5 on the 605 north

What he said.

I would only like to echo the sentiment to avoid the 5 at all costs. Especially the section between the 605 and the 91 he mentioned. It's narrow, construction going on towards the south end (roughly Valley View to the 91) and lots and lots of trucks are in there, owing the multitude of trucking companies and warehouses along that stretch. And the pavement itself isn't in the best of shape. That is one of the most chronically logjammed and frustrating stretches of highway I've ever been on.

South of the 91, the 5 widens up and speeds up substantially all the way to well past Irvine and Lake Forest. There is morning and afternoon commuter traffic, but a midday drive around lunchtime and you should be at or near full speed most of the way.

Just a word of caution. If for some reason you want to travel from the 5 to the 91, the exit to EB 91 from SB 5 is minimally signed and very easy to miss because of the construction. And NB 5 to EB 91 there is no through exit at all. You have to exit at Magnolia and take a couple of turns to access it.

I agree with bhcompy's route. I wouldn't use the 91 - it's worse than the 5. Horrible.

it seems there are 2 differing opinions on this one. In defense of taking the 91, it does have atleast 4 lanes and a carpool lane in each direction between the 605 and the 5. The 5 between the 605 and 91 only has 3 lanes in each direction in most sections. Even if the 91 is slow, it will certainly be quicker than the 5. Also, if you are driving during off peak hours, the 91 will be totally open, while the 5 still may be backed up, which is the case often.

And if you are in the car pool lane on the 91 it has it's own off ramp to the 5 so you do not have to leave the carpool.
Once on the 5, the carpool also has a disneyland off ramp so no need to leave the carpool again.

Where are you staying? I've seen a Disneyland shuttle bus at LAX before.... you may want to look into that.
