I still see people using their cell phone all the time! I avoid them like the plague. I've stopped using cell phones while I'm driving myself, as I really do feel it's to protect my own life not to use one in the car. Do you still use your cell while driving? If so...why?

No, and when I see someone yakking on a phone while driving I make a point of honking at them. I may start carrying a "HANG UP" sign. Idiots.

I have Bluetooth built into the car. Even with that, I try to avoid using the phone at all while driving.

This is the one thing that drives me insane more than anything else.

I just can't figure out why people can't pull over to talk. Risking my life, my kids life..and THEIR kids lives (sadly, I see it far too often with mothers on the go) is just not worth it. Perhaps if they raised the fines to several hundred and then acted on the threat, then something might change.

I use the phone all the time. I have a bluetooth as well and can call anyone on my list by voice. It is so cool the technology that we have now. For me I don't see it as any differant than having someone else along for the ride. With the bluetooth you are totally hands free. I am an attentive driver that has only had a wreck while sleeping at the wheel. Now sleeping while driving is something that you should never try.

I talk on mine all the time w/o a bluetooth. Just another one of Cali's nanny laws that most people just ignore.

I honestly wouldn't mind if that program goes through and gets approved. The program that disables your phone if the car is motion. I saw it the other week on the news. No one should really be using their phones in the car. Remember the years before the late 90's? If the call was important you would wait at home!

The ticket that you will pay if you get caught is also a nice gesture toward the jourisdiction that catches you. I am sure that they can use the money.

Yeah, the legislature can't balance a budget but they can pass nanny laws like no talking on the phone and no using trans fats. Amazing!
