... but pretty darn close!!

Finally made it to the Humboldt Bay Area for the first time and this first trip has me thinking it is pretty close to heaven, lol.

Just had to report in with the following updates:

Almost every person I have met is nice, friendly, and helpful.

The weather is as close to perfection I think I can find without leaving this country.

I have been awestruck much more than I thought I would be by the natural beauty of, well, almost everything my eyes glance upon.

Words fail me to describe the pleasant peace I have found in only a few days here. Now to tie up loose ends, finalize details, and become a permanent resident!

Thanks again to all for the help in my previous posts/threads, it was very useful and I appreciate it.

Oh, wait! Ignore me, I am just passing through so have no real knowledge! Everyone else listen to the negative "don't move here" posts/threads. California is a very big place and plenty of nice, good areas for folks to live, no need to rush here.

Which reminds me, one last comment, driving across this state is, well, again words fail me .... In a good amazing way though. I'll just say, if you ever get the chance, DO IT! Add it to your bucket list if need be, but make sure you are not alone so you can fully enjoy it.

It's nice to read about someone else falling in love with the place. Good luck!

The population hasn't increased there in 64 years, so I wouldn't worry too much.

But happy you're happy there.

Gonna shamelessly plug my own thread here. Might contain some information you'll find useful. Welcome to the North Coast!

There's also lots of other very useful information on city-data.com you would probably find helpful. Just use the search feature and type in words like Humboldt, Eureka, etc... hours of reading at your fingertips

Humboldt County is NOT paradise but I haven't found anywhere better within my budget, so am quite content. Welcome!

I am sure there are nice parts, but when my family member is moving partly because Eureka has been renamed Eurtweaka by locals it seems that OTC cold medicine and beauty supplies are preferred to the mighty green.

What matters here is a area to call home that fits your budget and that you find livable & can be content living there. Sounds like you have found such a place

I think Humboldt County would still be in my top three places to live even if I was wealthy -- I am not

I'm not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, yet here I am in Humboldt County all the same.
