I live in Lenwood, Califorina which is in SanBernardino county. When I purchased my home I was unaware that I was located in a flood plane. Since then, the County has declared this location a flood zone and I had to purchase flood insurance.
I have experienced being flooded on three seperate occasions. The insurance would not cover damages because the interior of my house did not suffer water damage. My yard and fence were washed away and I spent my own money to repair the damage.
Two weeks ago a land developer purchased property ajacent to mine. I approached this developer and asked what he was going to do about the flooding problem. He informed me that he was going to build the housed on elevated earth mounds. I told hime this obstruction would divert more water run-off on my property. He said that was my problem not his.
What can I do legally to stop this process of land development. I will not be the only resident impacted by future land development.

I believe we have laws in this state about adversely impacting your neighbors' homes and land as a result of changes you make to your property. Consult with a local attorney who specializes in this are of law.
