No place to cut the State's budget further, that's for sure!

State demands more energy-efficient windshields

Quote:
Jane Kay, Chronicle Environment Writer

Friday, June 26, 2009

California is the first state in the nation to require car manufacturers to install windshields that block the sun as a way to cut greenhouse gases.

The state Air Resources Control Board voted unanimously Thursday to require all new cars sold in California by 2012 to prevent 45 percent of the sun's total heat-producing energy from entering the car with the windshield rejecting at least half of the sun's energy.
Give it another 5 years and nobody will be able to afford a car in California.

These people are really nuts.

They were also going to try to ban Black cars, but I think these concepts are just that, concepts. I would like to have a cooler car in the summer though. I don't think it's a bad idea to have the OPTION of paying more for a "cooling" windshield, but by no means should it be imposed as a law. Personally I would pay extra for this windshield. I hate a hot interior, back all sweating, yuck, hate it.

Elementary my dear Watson. Elementary! Anything the state mandates for car manufacturers ends up adding to the price of the commodity so we pay for it in the end. It's kinda like a hidden tax. Guess you don't mind that though. Personally, I do, especially as cars can now cost more than my first home.

I just love how because the government mandates it, then it MUST be practical as well. Shoot, why not just mandate that all cars must come with ejections seats and teleportation ability?

The CA government has gone completely whacko. That is why so many like ourselves have left and many more are following. Yikes!

I don't have a single one seeing as I don't live in a state that is going bankrupt spending my tax dollars on bullfecalmatter. How many millions were spent dreaming up this garbage anyway?
