A safe, cheap place to live with lots of job opportunities? If such a place existed, it seems like everybody would move there.

You live in Ventura already. Are you looking for a cheaper place than that? As for job opportunities, there isn't much with an almost 12% unemployment rate in CA.

Hey, me too! Now if there was only one. I am afraid it is like a lost horizon.
You can find the safety and a place that is inexpensive........but, the employment aspect is a little more difficult to find in California at this time.

Then it would wind up being none of the above.

Exactly.

I think it's possible to find somewhere that's cheap and safe, or cheap with job ops, or safe with job ops, but probably not all three, and almost definitely not in Southern California.

If you are living in Ventura now, you know the answer. There is no such thing as cheap, safe and with jobs. There are very few that would fit the cheap and safe and none that would have job opportuinities right now.
