I live in Southern California and I pay $75-$80 per month for water and trash. In the summer it goes up to around $100.
I laugh when my mom complains of her water bill.....$60 every three month!

I live in Lassen County. In the summer I pay $50 a month for water. Trash is $82 for 3 months. It keeps going up, a dollar or two each billing cycle. I could pay alot less for trash by taking it to the dump myself each week, like alot of people here do. They pay about $5 a month by doing that. But we don't have a truck anymore and trash in my mini van isn't appealing.

I pay about $140 every two months in the SF Bay Area... summer or dry season... need to water the garden.

Only about $50 of that is for water flowing through the pipes...

The rest is for: sewer treatment, city sewer fee, pumping charge, seismic upgrade charge, bay pollution charge, account fee, etc...

I had a vacant house where not one drop of water was used in 2 months and the "Water" bill was still almost $60

in atlanta georgia we received a bill for $93 for two people for very light usage over 20 days it includes the sewer and common area fee for pool etc in our community. still seems really high though for the east coast where generally there is an abundance of water, rain and no water bills in most of the original 13 colonies!!

Love the thread. I live in a small Iowa town of 2000. Water /sewer rates are $6.75/1000 gallons each. Plus $8.50 monthly service/meter charge each. So my water /sewer bill is about 40 dollars (about 1400 gals) a month plus trash/ recycles pickup of $14.

In San Diego (city), my bill is roughly $90 a month for water and sewer. It breaks down: $33 flat sewer service charge, $17 flat water service charge, $38 water usage. Water usage costs around $3 for every 750 gallons. We would pay at least $50 a month in service fees, even if we used zero water. The rates go up every month.

The city picks up trash & recycling at no cost.
