Does anyone know of history journals or magazines in California?

I need to get some publications under my belt over the next year. Nothing that's too difficult to get published in either, just so I can pump up my curriculum vitae.

I'm not sure what is out there in smaller towns, big cities, or at the county level.

Thank you.

Most counties, such as ours, have a Historical Society that publishes a journal.
You would have to have a pretty deep background in the local area and they don't pay much if anything. You may need to expand your area of interest. Years ago when I was doing freelance writing there were some boards on AOL where editors would post their needs. You might check them out.

Peer reviewed or non-peer reviewed OK? What about any particular topics?

Here are a couple you might not know about:

If you can be a bit more specific about what you're looking for you might get some more targeted responses. I'm assuming you mean California history-specific publications, as opposed to just California-based publications. Do you want to pump up your CV for academic or for writing clip purposes? Do you have a particular area of interest or expertise? Magazines like the Quarterly (Pasadena area) publish short articles for a general audiences; there are other magazines like that around the state, and although not really a CV booster from the academic sense, they'd give you some nice clips.
