Oops sorry. I just meant to say that the population is less in AG and SLO has more population. The overall wealth in AG might be greater, but SLO has wealth and numbers.

The Bay Area on average is more expensive than LA/OC/Riverside. But that's because the latter metro area has more low-end housing. If you compare apples to apples, you'll find an affluent neighborhood in the BA costs no more than one in LA/OC/Riverside in terms of cost per sq feet. E.g., Tiberon vs. Malibu; Sunnyvale vs. Irvine; Atherton vs. Beverly Hills; Los Altos vs. San Marino. It's just that SoCal has more crummy hoods than the BA.

The Bay Area is only minimally more expensive on average than SoCal, but Bay Area salaries reflect the high COL much more than those of SoCal.

Gas for sure is cheaper in socal. Property depends on what neighborhoods.
