But that's only one campus. I think lachelle21 is correct in her statement that no transfer students will be accepted to the majority of the Cal State campuses in the next 3 semesters (definitely true of CSU Fullerton and Cal Poly Pomona). Arnold's proposed budget is only that: proposed. A tragedy for students in this state.

The CSUs accepted applications from transfers and new students for Fall 2010, the semester/quarter starting in August/Sept 2010.

Spring 2010 (starting this month) was a problem but not the upcoming Fall 2010 terms.

Fullerton and Pomona had November 30 2009 deadlines for transfer student applications.

That was the same deadline for, I believe, all the CSUs for students wanting to apply to start in August/September 2010 unless the campus found they had available room left to admit additional students.

The CSU campuses now have strict and short deadlines for applications, students and their families cannot afford to miss application deadlines like was true in the past.

Many campuses used to accept late applications but no longer.

I know a student who missed the application deadlines for Fresno State and is now trying to figure out what to do later this year.

I'm not unsympathetic, just trying to clarify how the CSUs work now.

Fullerton:

Many students who were planning to transfer for Fall 2009 and were prevented from doing so are unable to wait another year. They are looking at accelerated programs from private schools, which cost a small fortune.

Same thing in this area for example Fresno Pacific, a small private liberal arts college, has seen an increase of something like 15% more students.

But did you mean transfer after Fall 2009? I mean students who wanted to start in Spring 2010 (this month).

Students were able to transfer and start in Fall 2009, it was those who wanted to start this month who were hung out to dry by the state. The CSUs admitted something like 40,000 transfers in Aug/Sept for Fall 2009.

Student applicants are making deadlines....and handing over $50.00 with each campus application.....making a deadline is not the issue.....

Except I was asking the poster who said
Quote:
they are not accepting applications for spring 2010, fall 2010, or even any quarters in 2011.
As you and I are apparently both saying, they accepted applications for Fall 2010 up to the deadline of November 30.

So that poster may have missed the deadline, since they say no Fall 2010 applications are being accepted. That is only true because the application deadline passed.

In terms of 2011 being closed, the application period for Winter Quarter 2011 doesn't start until June 1 and for Spring Semester 2011 starts August 1. So 2011 is "closed" only because the application period hasn't started yet.
