The guy took my income, mortgage payment, other payments, put them into a calculator and they said I didnt have to pay any more.
Or you could be like my uncle (who had a massive stroke) and take over $100,000 worth of services and let creditors chase you for the remainder of your life, never paying a cent on anything.

Nah, the sun came up this morning, a little cool, but not like Minnesota. The roads worked, the schools were open, folks went to work, or fishing, or golfing, forums for some reason collect complainers like my eaves collected spiderwebs.

I'll probably get a lot of flack for this, but restrictive gun-ownership laws and then if any of you've ever been a trucker at any time, the growing discontent with big-rigs from the non-18wheeling public.

Drive into bordering states like Nevada and Arizona and the first thing you'll notice is that the speed-limit is the same for both regular cars and 18 wheelers.
As far as firearms are concerned, open-carry of legal weapons and shall-issue CCW are two big things that are luring that particular crowd out of the state.

Then of course there's the already mentioned issue of overcrowding in general.
We've got alot universities and community colleges here, but with the economy the way it is, people are enrolling in droves.
For some of us that learn better in smaller classes, the next best thing would be to research smaller cities elsewhere and find out what sort of educational opportunities they offer.

Not to mention it's also easier to get certified for certain employment fields in other states.

Just one comment,

half of CA is public land, there for your wandering, hardly over crowded.
California is about the same size as Japan,
California has 37 million people.
Japan has 127.08 million people

Most of the population of CA is concentrated in So Cal and the Bay area, The rest of California, while not empty enough, tain't bad.

True, but you still can't live in those areas and hermitize though.

What they call small towns here, are usually small cities to most other parts of the country.
Not to mention the site of endless tract homes along the hillsides of the IE and the San Gabriel Mountains gets old and tacky after awhile.

Truck driving really opened my eyes to the better parts of the USA.

California hit the level where it cannot afford itself. The cost of living is its biggest thorn.

Yes, it's crowded, but New York is even more crowded. I don't think that's the issue so much as how negligent it has been with lack of control. And, yes, I'm primarily referring to illegal immigration, although that is everywhere.

Increasing restrictions on freedoms, and I agree wholeheartedly with bentstrider.

I've lived here for 30 years. I recall how proud I was to tell people that I lived in California; the land of milk and honey; our own slice of paradise. Things have changed enormously. There are the ever increasing tax issues, the fluctuating home prices, traffic, the hustle and bustle of urbanized living. But, there's something else beneath all that which I can't seem to put my finger on. Here's what I mean:

Just this week, my folks moved out of California for good! After visiting several states within the U.S. they finally settled for a rural community within an east coast state. Wednesday afternoon, I picked them up from their home and took them to a nearby restaurant. We struck up a conversation with the waitress and told her how this was their last day in California. The blond/blue eyed doll told us she was born and raised in California and could not wait for the minute in which she could permanently leave the state.

What's happened here? What is that one underlying issue that is making most of us turn our backs on the once pristine state of California???
Was it ever really that great? I would say plenty more about the weaknesses of the state, but if I spelled them out, I am afraid the PC moderators on here would suspend me.

Fire away if that's what you need to do to exercise your venom ... lots of people just love to dump on California.
It's doubtful that you'll say anything that hasn't already been said.

I second that. People love to beat up on the big guy. California has always been a target in that respect. Considering that the state has the 6th or 7th largest economy in the world, I'm not too concerned about it falling apart.
