Out of all of the Fortune 500 companies in the United States, nearly 20% of them (98 companies, to be exact) are headquartered in California.
To say that California is dying, or that it's similar to a Rust Belt state is laughable.

No it hasn't but I think only because Californians are snapping it up. Quite honestly and although I certainly and admittedly haven't been on the lookout for them, I don't remember seeing one where we are or in our 2,000+ mile trek to get here.

I can't agree with you there. My company is slated to become one of the largest 'green' certified buildings in California, we're giving lots of people work (installing and maintaining solar panels, waste water recycling for landscaping etc etc.) and being the guinea pigs for a few new 'green' technologies. In my industry being 'green' isn't common...so we're trying our best to set a good example through what we do.
If you can't see the technology and where it's going.... you may need to open your eyes a little wider.
