My wife and I are going to be moving up North at the end of this year. I will need to commute into Oroville/Chico. We would normally move very close to oroville but she is pregnant, and we want to stay somewhat close to Sacramento because of the number of different MDs that are available there.

My question is I am assuming the commute from Wheatland, Plumas Lake, Yuba, or Lincoln up to Oroville is probably a lot better than from those places going south to Sacramento. Am I right, anyone currently do this, or know someone or once did it? If so how long did it take you to get to Oroville Chico area, and which city would you reccomend? Thanks!

Enloe Hospital in Chico is a good one. Feather River in Paradise is another good one. Live in Chico or Paradise My gawd Yuba City? Lincoln? Oroville? Life is too short.

Oroville is a good 20-30 minutes south of chico, so it depends on which town you will be commuting to. Yuba city is about 45 minutes south of Chico, but I wouldn't live there, huge drug problems among other things. Plumas lake is alright but you're looking at a 75-90 minute commute minimum up to chico. Of those towns i would say Lincoln or marysville would be your best bets as far as living goes, but you're still looking at roughly a over an hour commute to chico, and maybe 45 minutes to oroville. I would suggest moving up to chico anyway. It's a great town, big enough to have everything you need. Enloe medical center does pretty good work.

I know people who commute from Yuba City to Oroville and they say it's about 45 minutes. A bad two lane commute though. People drive like crazy on both 99 and 70. Chico to Oroville is about 30 minutes but it's all divided 4 lane freeway now. Easy commute.

I would suggest living in either Chico or Paradise.

Just move to Chico. If your wife is convinced there is better medical care in Sacramento, she didn't do a very good job on her research.

paradise- feather river hospital.
Chico- Chico, Enloe hospital.
I don't know the other names. But Durham, CA. is a good place to live to get to Chico. good little town. About 5 or 6 muinets to get to chico about 8 or 9 to the hospital. good luck(:

If you are used to life in a city such as Sacramento, adjusting to life in a place such as Oroville or Wheatland could be challenging. Chico has the best of both worlds...small town feel yet has everything you need...decent shopping, good restaurants...Trader Joe's for goodness sake! Bidwell Park with loads of hiking and biking trails, huge beautiful trees, the list goes on and on. Chico State is there obviously and with that comes a certain amount of cultural opportunities. Also, I have had friends and family members deliver babies in Chico and have never heard a complaint. I would imagine it would be easier to get to an OB appointment in town than having to commute back to Sacramento, and certainly much easier when it comes time to deliver. Having had three fast deliveries I'd be horrified if I had to commute somewhere!
I just noticed the date of the original post and I will assume you are now settled somewhere, curious to see where you ended up!

Oroville is crap! Don't understand your wife's reasoning..Chico has a good hospital.. All the cities you mentioned don't even come close to Chico.
