LOL, Curmudgeon I am actually working on base right now in building which used to be the hospital back in the day.

I told my wife the exact same thing while we were living in CO. Monterey was the only place I wanted to live in CA if we were to move back. Then two days later I got a job offer in Monterey from a recruiter cold call out of the blue! I about fell out of my chair.

As I live here I will suggest Malibu its not as far up its own a** as people seem to think.
There are plenty of great people here and plenty of “shiny stuff”,if that's your thing.

Lotta homeless in San Luis Obispo, sitting around the outdoor cafes, lotta illegals too I suppose, I, unlike some people can't tell them from US citizens though.

Several Lustrums ago we would go to the teen club across from the front of the old hospital, Not far from the officers club.

I bagged groceries at the commisary. Also pumped some gas & mowed some crab grass around Stillwell Park.

We lived in Stillwell Park off Gigling Road. We were fortunate to buy 10 acres in Prunedale.
