It's terrible! I still haven't gotten over the fact that they've "forced" us to use unleaded gasoline! I'm an American, damn it, and if I want to buy leaded gasoline, I should have the ability to do it!

Not in my place they wont. This is another example of government intrusion.A few months ago city workers went door to door in my city giving out the new fluorescent light bulbs. The two they gave me are sitting in the back of a high shelf.Just before the Bolsheviks declare the old style bulbs illegal I intend to go out and buy several hundred of them, perhaps a thousand, enough to last me the rest of my life.Besides this being an act of defiance, there is a practical reason;these damn new twisty bulbs are said to contain a high amount of mercury, and can be harmful if broken.

From a more pragmatic angle, have you ever heard of the science proving global warming? Science in general? Peak oil? Perhaps the dangers of relying on Saudi Arabia and other terrorist regimes for our energy needs?

I suppose that people should be free to pollute themselves into literal oblivion and destroy the entire ecosystem (that humans are part of and dependent upon) for all the future generations. Yes, freedom from the government! The freedom to only think of the here and now and not plan for the future and be totally apathetic as to the price our progeny have to pay for our foolishness. Totally free from any worry or guilt about it. Freedom is definitely the biggest issue here.

That is priceless. Oh wait, it does have a price... A bigger price than you can even imagine.

This is a very elementary presentation of the issues, but it's cinematically beautiful and worth watching:

So, honestly, TVs should be the LEAST of our concerns...

"Global warming is the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people". That was said by a US senator. There has been no unusual temperature increase. None. Our temperatures are normal and are changing normally. The whole global warming fraud is based on some terrible event that is supposed to occur in the furure. The only proof for global warming lies in faulty computer models and anecdotal experiences. The global warming proponents count up the number of scientists who chance to make money by supporting the fraud and then tell us the science is perfect. In fact thousands of scientists say that global warming does not exist. Even the global warming hucksters know that the warming idea is faulty so they are trying to change the name for their fraud. Have you noticed that they now call it climate change instead of global warming?

This is all about power and money. You are being fooled into accepting huge taxes on your energy use. They will tax your electricity, your gasoline, natural gas, your car, and every product that you buy if it uses energy or energy was used to manufacture it. And they want power. They think you have too much freedom to make your own choices. So they are going to tell you what to buy. When will they also start controlling how you live your life? Want to live 30 miles away from you job to get a better home? In the not too distant furure that could be illegal as your commuting is contributing to climate change. There is no limit to what they will try to get away with if you let them.

Well, let's see here... who is blamed for rolling black-outs when Californians consume too much energy? Who's responsible for making CA more energy efficient? Who has the burden to fix the state's problems? Who's business is it?

I guess it's the same old story in CA - the citizens want something done to fix a problem but start complaining when solutions are put in motion that are either not convenient, cost them money, or appear to be a violation of their liberties. For all the knocks on the CA legislature, I sure wouldn't want to be in their shoes - they have to deal with the people who voted them in there, and that seems like an impossible proposition in itself. They'll always have half the state wanting them burned at the stake.

Try buying an older style A/C unit that isn't energy efficient or uses old style refrigerant. You can't here in CO, and I imagine you can't in CA (unless of course you buy used - and even then it won't pass inspection). I know, I just had to replace our A/C unit. The older style units aren't made anymore because they won't meet building codes.

People seem to think that no other appliances have gone through this same process. Standards change and manufacturers update their product lines to meet those new standards. It's happened in the A/C industry, the dishwasher industry, the refrigerator industry, the washer/dryer industry, the toilet industry, the shower head industry, etc, etc, etc, etc. I don't think Home Depot started moving out of CA because of it. There wasn't a backlash when the standards changed for any of those products. Why the backlash for TV's?

CA has always been progressive with energy efficiency and environmental issues. What's the big deal? Or is this just another opportunity to for some people to use the "socialist" propaganda buzzword that has become so popular these days?

So the subject isn't worth discussing. it's mute point....
Your comments will be muffled with all of the anti-socialist fanatics who are trying to spread the word that our economy is going to come crashing down....

These are the same people who were afraid that if they sailed to far, they would fall off the earth.

These are the same people who tortured anyone who said the Earth revolved around the Sun.

These are the same people who had to move to Nova Scotia during the American revolution so they could still support the monarchy.
