New to this state and where I used to live, only cashiers sold lottery tickets not vending machines so it was easy to claim a prize.

But if I bought a ticket from a vending machine, who do I show to claim my prize? It's only a free ticket, but I won something

Any retailer that sells lottery tickets through a cashier will redeem it. So probably the local liquor store will be the most convenient

Correct mostly, if the amount is over $500 or so it has to be claimed thru claim forms to the state.
