So Where is the best place to live in California? Affordability, safety, and employment are very important factors as well. I'm female looking to begin a new life...Oh! and is there any area best for those into metaphysical realms? Without getting spooky!

Thanks for any good advice!
Don't worry, that question tells me you will fit right in.

It was this line >>> "any area best for those into metaphysical realms?"
that he's teasing you about which is why i chided him for his stereotypical notion of California and Californians.
That said, on various fronts (science, technology, art, literature, music, spirituality/metaphysics, sustainable agriculture, sustainable everything, etc.), many Californians do (and did) indeed ride the crest of the wave and are oriented toward the future.
And, imo, it's the ones looking toward that future / future orientation (as opposed to those fixated on the past) that will recreate California and hopefully "new beginnings" will abound. (but i'm an idealist)

Conservatives reject both metaphysics and metacognition.

I love your eternal optimism it's refreshing from those of us whom are so pessimistic! I include myself in the pessimism and trying desperately to shake it off!!! Life through rose coloured glasses is what my mom used to say about me...she would **** now to see that I have become very much like her!

Who cares about conservatives? I just want a space in the world to do my own thing and if someone doesn't like it then with two feet and a heart beat they can move along and find what ever suits them...without being judged by me!

It's just my b.s. ... i am not optimistic and the idealism is an intellectual parade and i'm having a difficult time seeing how this country and this world are going to be o.k. at this point.
People are so stupid and ignorant that they're actually s******* in their own nest (imagine that!) and destroying our habitat and people are so brainwashed by mass media / dominant culture that they're losing their democracy (i could throttle that supreme court majority ... borderline evil).
I'll stop there.
So no, i'm not an eternal optimist and i fell into the pit of negativity, cyniscsm, futility, disillusionment, etc., etc., a long time ago and my fingers are bloody from the long climb out! (still climbing .... still cleaning the "windows of perception" 'cause that's where it's at ... no rose colored glasses for me ... better to be clear and real ... imo).
