Hi:

My husband wants to go into the acting field and we are considering moving to California. We would like to be close to LA, in a no too expensive safe place preferably close to a hospital, because we are both nurses. We have never been in LA, but I heard that the weather in La, is not as great, we are from Miami. I also read on the web that is better to live west side to LA. Is this true? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

I will let someone else answer most of your questions since I am biased, I would rather shoot myself than live south of the Grapevine, but this statement?

Holy Smackers, in most of the area one needs neither an air conditioner nor a home furnace, there is very little humidity, and rain is courteous enough to only fall during four months of the year. I would live to know what you have hear of the weather in SoCal.

The weather in LA is a million times better than Miami. I've heard from people that Miami has terrible weather...... 9 months of heat and high humidity. Also tons of thunderstorms all summer long.

In contrast, LA has rain only in the winter months, and the rain is only about as much as it rains in Miami's winter (dry season). Low humidity, plenty of sunshine, and mild winter temps is LA's weather.

Smile Thank you for the information

I would like to thank you for the information, it looks like they lie to me; what you told me sounds really good. I would love to leave in a place where the 4 seasons can be notice and appreciated. What areas of LA are good to life at? A good community.

You don't get four seasons in LA, you barely get seasons, you get winter high's in the 70's Summer highs in the 80's winter lows in the 50's and summer lows in the 60's.

No where in LA is good to live in. Of course, that is my opinion, but anywhere you can drive for two hours on the freeway and see nothing but buildings, is not my cup of tea.

The most inhabitable parts of LA are, Westwood, Hollywood Hills, The canyons, but, can you afford them.

There are only about a million people trying to break into acting Good Luck.

My recommendation would be to buy a chunk of land and raise horses, but that is just me.

My advice. Visit here first. It's not like it is on TV & the Movies.

Miami is a great town.

If getting into the theatre business is what you are looking for, yes, the west side of L.A. might be the best, but you will not come close to 4 seasons..Someone mentioned you do not need air or heat, well that is rediculous. Of course you do unless you do settle for the west side of Los Angeles. You will still need heat in the middle of the winter, just not as much.

One thing you haven't mentioned: what will your housing budget be and are you looking for an apartment or a house? The west side is very expensive. the valley, either San Gabriel or S.f might be as good for you. Have you considered the cost of living?

If I were you I would fisrt, visit for at least a week or two and keep an open mind and 2-talk to some of the hospitals about placement...The last thing you want to do, regardless of your profession is move without jobs.

ridiculous,

I stand corrected, if you are especially sensitive, or live in a poorly insulated house (of which there are many in Mordor) you may need one or the other.
