It seems to me that the dating scene in SoCal is like South Floridas. Very unpredictable and materialistic girls in both for sure. One is just more blatant, the other is more silent about it.

Also, there is so much competition and it is too stressful here. To the OP: I'd like to say don't feel so bad for not being able to find a suitable date here because it is tough. My brother who is a really social person had trouble getting dates here too so you are not alone.

Whats South FL's excuse then? Theres no movie scene, but I get the feeling its a lot like Los Angeles area (only ppl wont admit it since its quieter). Not just Miami either. I am talking Tampa area too.

Women in NYC are just as vain, money grubbing, etc, but less hot, IMO.

Women can afford to be somewhat demanding here because there are quite a few more men than women in the "singles" age group, and quite a few men here are successful, so why not?

Broke men are disadvantaged in the dating scene anywhere, not just here. Women here are just more blunt about it, which is a plus.

That plus the women here are not stupid. They know what you really want is easy sex, so they reject many men flatly before things even get going.

The solution is simple: West Hollywood.
I might be sounding like a broken record, but if women are blunt about it, its better. I'd rather deal with that than how many women are in South Florida where I currently am. They never give you an explanation there unless you ***** them out first and they get all pissy after and get mad.
I hate the dating scene in South FL though. Not just Miami either, even more north.

The solution to that. Put a bird on it! Move to Portland!

If you can't be with the one you love , love the one you are with.

Another solution would be to get educated into a career where there are either many female employees or clientele.
Eventually, do a good job, get noticed, and you'll begin to notice improvement in other areas besides your checking account

Nursing, Auto mechanics, engineering, seems plenty of blue-collar, or closely associated occupations will make one appear as though they know how to handle their business.
I personally haven't gone forward in the relationship department myself, but the few times I've helped a fine young woman properly jump start their car, I was treated like nobility for a few short minutes.

Alas, there is always hope, and not the type the man on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave spouts!!!
