It will be the first time me and this girl are going to have an entire day to spend together. I need ideas for someplace fun, perhaps romantic (but not pricey) scenic, FUN and maybe even somewhere to sit and spend time together.

Thank you

We live in the Los Angeles area.

Griffith Park Observatory is fun - lots of places to sit and chat, but also go inside and scope out the stars/planets. Not sure if they still have Laserium (last time I was there it was in the 80's - Geez ... I'm showing my age!!! LOL), but that was fun - just a place to chill and see a laser light show to some awesome tunes.

I remember Laserium II, Laserock I&II, Pink Floyd's Laser show, back in the 1970s. What a trip. Great place for a date or just to party, see the show, and then step out and have a fantastic view of LA. On clear nights you can see the runway lights at SMO airport, the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, and Dodger Stadium.

I still remember the Laser operator, a thin blond guy with disco leisure suit.

I always enjoyed "day dates", maybe a bike ride, on the bike path around Santa Monica Venice - not too far from the SM promenade - good for walking, lunch, people watching, etc.

(You might want to stick this on the LA forum.)

Charles! Good memories!!! I LOVED the Floyd show!!! Now I'm on a mission - I need to find out if Laserium still exists cuz now I wanna go back and see it again!

Another thing - I wish they'd bring Phantom back to the Ahmanson - not the Pantages. I know Phantom is perpetually running in Vegas, but I long for the days when I can see it at the Ahmanson starring Davis Gaines!

How about a trip to Catalina, or going whale watching?

There are also harbor cruises and dinner cruises in some areas, and it's much less expensive than a regular (3/4/7 day) cruises. At most locations, there is often more to be done nearby when you return to land, such as visiting shops and restaurants in the harbor.

Griffith Park is local and nice. Else, you can make a day trip to somewhere like Solvang or San Diego
