Time for a little fun just before Valentine's Day. Nice timing given the other thread about the dating scene in Southern California.

The Daily Beast has once again crunched some numbers and this time ranked 104 cities with populations over 200,000 people to name the top (and worse) places to find a spouse.

These rankings will be heavily disputed by many. Of course once again their choice of data makes a difference in the results. That is why you have to take rankings just for fun.

The Daily Beast methodology was to look at the percentage of singles over 21, ratio of restaurants and bars to over-21s, marriages and divorces in 2008 compared to the marriage age population, and also the Gallup-Healthways Emotional Health Index.

They did not look at age, gender, orientation, or anything else that might influence a person's choices.

So here is how California cities did in the national ranking, from best to worse:
#1 Long Beach
#2 Anaheim
#3 Santa Ana
#7 Riverside
#13 San Diego
#15 Chula Vista
#23 San Francisco
#24 Glendale
#27 Sacramento
#30 San Jose
#42 San Bernardino
#43 Fresno
#64 Los Angeles
#73 Bakersfield
#76 Oakland
#97 Modesto
#102 Stockton (just ahead of the bottom 2 - Memphis TN and Lexington KY)

All 104 US cities and their scores in the different methodology categories:

Well, Sacramento worked fine for me. Some of those rankings might be influenced by young women marrying quickly just to get out of certain places!

From what I hear, if you dont have a Valentine by now, I doubt that any study will help this late in the game. For this year anyway. Maybe you could head to one of those places and get set up for next years Valentines. lol
