I never dared look that closely, but I'm going on the assumption...

YES! Especially if you live close to the ocean. They are very difficult to get rid of.

I lived in Florida for 23 years, and have lived in CA for going on 8. NO COMPARISON! They're terrible in Florida and mostly non-existent in CA. I've seen them here; not saying they don't exist. But there is a dramatically smaller presence of them here than in Florida. And most of my time living in CA was right at the coast.

Oddly when I lived in corona my community would spray just to get rid of the lizards. The first day we moved in there was a dead lizard under the bathroom sink. Never had roaches. But I once saw this crazy bug that looked like a leaf. I think it was some type of Asian beetle.

Never once seen a Mosquito in So Cal. Do they exist there? Man, here in the rust belt we get eaten alive from May to October! Super high humidity.

There are certainly plenty in NorCal. I don't recall having them in SoCal but I'm sure they're around in certain areas.

They're around, and are a vector for the West Nile Virus. Here in my part of the IE, I've kept a mental tally of mosquito bites received in the past few years. For example, 2008 (6), 2009 (0).

Yeah, I know, get a life, but statistics like that are amusing to throw at my friends from the Midwest and the South.
