Prrtty much like she said - get a kayak. And a fishing pole (which should be either a short pole, or one you can break down, so you can stow it when you're paddling).

I don't know much about kayaks, but I suppose a crucial question is whether or not you want to kayak in lakes/reservoirs or the ocean. I can't imagine fishing while whitewater kayaking, though I suppose on certain rivers you could fish from a kayak.

I have seen lots of Kayaks around Oxnard and Ventura. Just wondering where do you keep the fish after you catch them? They do have kayak rentals from Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oxnard, Malibu and I am sure other areas as well. I just wasn't aware that anyone fished from a kayak. Sounds cool though.

Heh. My first reaction was "Well, obviously, the freezer!"

They actually make onboard live wells for kayaks. That'll cost a bit, though. There are external live wells, too (mesh bags, wire baskets) but those, especially the basket, won't make paddling any easier.

Ok, I would cook them up myself, but that is another story. As you guessed I was talking about on the Kayak. Maybe because I live near the ocean, my thoughts are toward fishing in the ocean on a Kayak. Seems that you would run out of room. I wasn't aware that they had live wells for kayaks. Very cool if you ask me.

I do a lot of kayak fishing. Here are a couple of good sites to get you started:

www.kayakfishing.com
www.kayakfishingmagazine.net
www.paddling.net
www.allkayakfishing.com

Do a lot of research before you buy a kayak. A lot of fisherman use sit on top kayak for fishing. I use a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 which is a sit in kayak and I love it. Once you get the kayak you will need to install rod holders and a anchor system... they are a must.
