I'd like to know your Top 5 Things to Do/See/Visit or Don't Waste your Time in California (or surrounding states). We will be stationed at Travis AFB. I know there's a lot, because people mention the beaches, mountains, parks, festivals, Tahoe, restaurants, etc. And being someone who has NEVER been to California, I'd like to what's worth my while or not. Thanks!

tough to narrow it down to just 5 but I'd say:

- Yosemite or Sequoia natl park
- San Francisco (Golden Gate Park, Haight, Marina, Pac Heights, Coit Tower)
- Big Sur
- Santa Monica / Venice / West LA / Hollywood
- Laguna / Newport / Huntington beach

Default so much

There really isn't anything not worth visiting. In North CA, Tahoe, Lassen, Shasta, Eureka (eat at the Somoa Cookhouse) Redwoods, Lost Coast, Mendocino. Point Reyes, SF, from your home, an easy drive to Mount Tamalpais.. These are just a few things, not anywheres complete

San Francisco, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Southern California Coast...but it all depends what you like. Some would say Napa wineries are a must see if you like wine.

I love Armstrong Grove (Sonoma County) and on the way you can visit Korbel Winery.
I am not crazy about the City, but most people adore visiting there...when I go, I enjoy getting there (to PacBell for a Giants game) via the ferry...then the ride home, with the lights of the City on the Bay...well, it is incredible!
The drive on Highway one in Mendocino County is stunning, but dangerous if you aren't watching the road! So, when you want to see the sites, pull over and really enjoy them. If you happen to be here during the whale run, it is fun to spot them too.
As others have said...it all depends on what you like to do/see/know!
