I grew up playing Cowboys and Indians as a kid and when I came to US 2 decades ago, I was super bummed to find out that running into Native Americans in most parts of the country it harder than winning the lottery and you are whining about not having enough black people in CA?

You are whining about certain cities not being diverse yet most native Americans are pretty much forced to live in the '4 Corners'.

I am sorry but I find this diversity/demography related threads as pointless as wiping my .ss before taking a dump.

Oversimplification noted.

They tend to ask those types of questions more often. Take that for what it's worth.

Native AMericans are not that hard to find. Of course a Native American person may not look like what a NA is supposed to look to you. There are blonde and redheaded Native Americans living in urban areas.

I doubt if they walk around with Native American stamped on their foreheads. Like I said I have seen many fairskinned almost blonde blue-eyed Indians - at least that is what they identified themselves to me as.

I'm beginning to think now since many black Californians have moved to the old school South, it led me to believe that the state is becoming less welcoming of blacks. That's what a friend told me.

Honestly and seriously, do you think California (mainly LA) is becoming less welcoming and less friendly of blacks living here?
The question should be are blacks less welcoming of California and I would say hell yeah. The only reason I am still here is because of job security and I own a home and my age. If I was a younger person with little time vested in the job I would sell my home and head on out like a bat out of hell. For what my house is worth I could get a VERY nice home in the ATL or an even better deal in Rio de Janeiro.

I'm just toughing it out. I live in Northern California. It's much easier to get around in than LA but the quality of life in Cali is messed up compared to other cities - at least in my opinion.

I would say so. Look at how the police treat us here. I went to the ATL and now I see hope. I'm leaving California I like that song by Afroman leaving california because I can relate to it. Cali is not the same as it was back in the day. Plus too many dirty politicians who are over payed.

Default Perhaps blacks are becoming less tolerant...

Why is it that whites must be the one at fault? Perhaps blacks move because they no longer wish to be around so many white people. No one ever brings that up. If I move out of a black neighborhood to be around more whites because I would feel more "welcome" then I would be a racist. If a black person moves for the same reasons no wants to point out the obvious.

We all need to be more loving towards one another and make exceptions for peoples comfort zones. If someone doesn't "feel" welcome...then they should move to where they do feel welcome. Don't be angry because people will not make you "feel" good. Don't expect others to change the way they live just to accommodate another groups personal feelings! It is not just or reasonable. It is not one races responsibility to make another "feel" good or welcome. It is our duty as man to treat one another fairly and with love and respect. If you don't "feel" it then perhaps you are not looking hard enough. IF you look for the negative then it will hit you in the face every time. Love thy neighbor...if they do not "feel" it...then the fault is not yours.

i hang out with a lot of blacks and hispanics as well as asians in santa monica but we mostly cruze up and down the west cost of LA. I dont think people are racist towards us it's just that we dont have many white friends eventhough 3/4 of the girls we hang out with are white.

I love Cali because i could buy a few ounces of weed each week. )

We have Native Americans living everywhere. The Chumash are still here in California. Many other tribes are also in the state. I know that because of all the Casinos.

There has never been a large black population in Cali, period. Cali welomes them much more than the South; and, the quality of life is way better in Cali.

Just because you can buy a huge, over taxed home in the South doesn't mean your life will be better. You'll just have less culture, more closed mined neighbors, and a bigger house to clean.

California in general, has had a mass exodus of blacks, in recent years. In California, blacks are now outnumbered by other minorities, and they have lost political power in the state. California has also become more conservative over the years (after all, it has a Republican Governor). This increasing conservatism in California, has also made it a less hospital place for blacks, than it was in the past.

I would say that in LA, blacks are a bit more accepted, than in Northern Cal. LA is the center of the entertainment industry, in America. If you're a black athlete or entertainer in LA, you're going to have it easier in LA, than you would if you're not an entertainer or athlete.

That being said, I lived in SF, and hated it overall. SF used to be a warm, welcoming place, before the mid-80s. Since then, it's been taken over by smug, white Yuppie scum, who think that they're better than anyone else. I know native New Yorkers, who thought that folks in SF, were much ruder and colder, than people in NY. And I agree with their opinion on that. Seems to me, SF has become a city full of phony, spineless twits, who don't give a hoot about their fellow citizens.

And you'd better not be an African American in SF. If you are, you will get treated horribly, by the affuent whites who now rule SF. Many other African Americans that I knew living there, claimed that it was impossible to become upwardly mobile, in SF. As an African American myself, I found SF to be more racist towards blacks, than even the deep south. San Franciscans really don't want blacks in in their city, but they'l never have the guts to admit it to your face.

The cost of living in SF, is truly outrageous. No one who makes less than about $80K a year, can afford to live even half-way decently there. So the bohemian/artist types who used to make up a large part of SF's population, can't afford to live their anymore. And that's sad, because bohemians were the heart and soul of the city, a few decades ago.

And as far as I'm concered, SF is no longer progressive. It used to be, before the affluent Yuppies took over the city, and ruined it. People in SF are SOOO concerned about animal rights, and environmental issues. But when it comes to people (especially blacks, hispanics, and working-class whites), forget it. This factor, is one of the main reasons why homelessness is such a huge problem, in SF. And also why there's such a huge gap, between the rich and poor in SF. Nobody gives a rat's ass about you in SF, if you're not an affluent white Yuppie.
