What's sad is that I'm higher than my city's amount by a fairly good amount, and based on the lifestyle I choose to live, it's barely enough given taxes and other costs.

It's a bit surprising to see Santa Barbara, SLO, and Santa Cruz so low down the list, considering how much it costs to live in many parts of those counties.

Yeah, I am not surprised about SLO county. It is REALLY hard to scratch out a living around here, unless you have lived here 25 years and have a job with the State or PG&E.

I wouldnt have expected LA county ahead of Orange, or Contra Costa ahead of Marin.

Surprised the average of Sacramento is only $1000 less than Orange or LA. Must be a lot of poor people on those counties bringing the average down.

I think the data also shows how much different of a place Sacramento is than the rest of the central valley.
