Roger Mahoney should have spent more time worrying about what pedophile priests were doing to young children. He's not exactly a moral authority.

Boycotts often do not work, and this one may backfire. Already am hearing about plans to travel to or relocate to, Arizona because of this action. On a personnel level, this is true. A long fall trip is on the schedule. While I have traveled fairly extensively in Arizona in the past, still a few new places to visit. As Arizonas illegals leave the state, most will not be going home, they will go to other states. That means California, which soon will have even more illegals. We can trade places; the Arizona illegals come to California and I move to Arizona. Arizona could be getting an influx of new non Hispanic residents from states soft on illegal immigration, California of course, being the top offender.

I'm really concerned that it will lead to any hispanic looking person being subjected to checks on their citizenship, which is absolutely BS. I would flip out if some officer actually stopped me for the sole purpose of checking my citizenship just b/c of how I look. It's bad enough I get asked my nationality when I get pulled over and when I say "American" they have this dumbfounded look and ask "What?". So then I just say Mexican like they want, even though that is not my nationality. Next time I'm just saying Asian just to see how the pig reacts
You have to be detained for another crime for the officer to check your identity. I don't see why that should even be a problem. If someone is picked up for DUI or vandalism and he is found to be an illegal immigrant. He/she should be bused out of the country. I believe the reason they ask your nationality is for a few reasons but mostly statistical and identitifying reasons.

However, personally speaking, I can't see this ending up well anyways. Immigration is probably the touchiest subject in American politics.
It shouldn't be. It's pretty cut and dry. You're either an illegal citizen or legal citizen.

Lately the reaction toward Arizona's new immigrate policy has been harshly critical. The call for an economic boycott of Arizona has been issued by the city of San Francisco. The archbishop of Los Angeles referred to the Arizona law as "German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques." Unless the new law is struck down it is likely that other cities and the state legislature will call for boycotts of Arizona.

Do you think California will officially boycott Arizona?
It shows how backwards and messed up our country and society is. We are allowing ourselves to be overrun by illegal immigration and you're a "racist" if you're against it.

The problem is everyone is too touchy feely now and making this a personal thing. You have to be bigger than the personal feeling and think about the country as a whole. Most people know many decent hard working illegal immigrants. I'm assuming some people think all of the illegal immigrants are like them or think of them personally. You can't do that because you are then blinded by your emotions for them.

I'm sure a few of you would think I'm a racist because I'm against illegal immigrants. Yet I have never said I'm against a certain race because I'm not.

BS... if this law sticks and isn't overturned, Arizona's economy will immediately prosper as wages go up and all the people who are sick and tired of the gangbangers will flock in from neighboring states.

I don't understand the problem with the law in Arizona. Of the couple of times I was stopped by Police I had to give them my drivers license. Isn't that identification? What is so hard for people to understand?

You want to boycot someplace why not try boycotting a place that tosses their illegals in prison, harms them or does what they want with them. Why not boycot a place that the police hurt physically the illegals that are found crossing the border or after they have arrived? If you were to contact the Red Cross they could fill you in on the ptoblems with a well known place that inflicts major damage to their illegals. That place is Mexico. Funny how they can't stand to have people from Central and South America entering their nation but they can't stand it when the USA or a Border state passes a law that hurts them.

One interesting fact. A small grocery chain had to layoff 300 people in the Phoenix area because they were illegal. American Citizens were hired to fill the vacancies. So now we have 300 tax paying American Citizens working at those jobs.

Yet they don't ask white people that now do they? Have you ever had your nationality questioned when getting a speeding ticket? Or has anyone out there that is not a minority? And if you have and have responded American, has the officer repeated the question again b/c he seemed to be dumbfounded that a brown person would answer American?

Yrs back illegal mexicans were my neighbors when i lived in the horrid del rosa area of san bernardino,ca. They stole my mail, stunk & never cleaned their yard. Luckily another neighbor called immigration on them & if i ever have illegals for neighbors again i will report them. I bet if you illegal alian supporters have them as neighbors you will change your tune.

They can only be so lucky. I'm sure they'd be happy if there were less Californian's going there.

Many people in Western states would be happy if less Californians came to visit.

It's a joke here in NM, "you know you're New Mexican when you hated the Texans.. until the Californians moved in"
