Now if only our state government could mirror our tech giants as far as putting money away for a rainy day.

The state government seems to have no concern whatsoever for saving money. And the voters keep jumping on causes that require MORE money. And the voters keep voting "the government" back into power.

The voters need to fix this.

Gee all this good news about CA is making me giddy. Our companies are awash in money and patents. Looks like the media is right. We can all relax and vote in the Democrats for another term.

Top 1% of earners in CA pay ~50% of all taxes

Most voters pay trivial taxes
Suspect deepest schism will be between private, nonunion workers angered by pay/pensions/job security/"productivity" of unionized gvt workers and overly generous welfare handouts
Some version of bankruptcy is probably how CA/NY/NJ/IL will ultimately be solved (similar dynamics as in EU)

In contrast, many of world's most profitable, most valuable cos. are HQd in a 40mi stretch from RedwoodShores to SJ; but these are all globalized, virtual cos. which continually move jobs and cash to wherever is most efficient: their shareholders and most talented workers (who also own a lot of these cos.' shares) would expect nothing less (and, ironically, pension and mutual funds of various unionized workers own a lot of these cos.' shares and expect such efficiencies to maximize share price)
