Does California have a state wide law about rabies vaccines and cats? I know yes, for dogs, but what about cats?

And if the law is not state wide, are there county level laws about rabies vaccines in cats, or town or what?

thanks.

I don't know about LAWS but my vet vaccinates my cats for rabies. If people don't take their cats to the vet then there is nothing a law can do anyway.

PS. This is the second cat/rabies thread I've seen in 2 days....interesting...

In California cats are not required to have rabies vaccinations.

I'd get one if it's an outdoor cat, though.

Yolo County is the only county I'm familiar with in CA that requires all cats to get an annual rabies shot and be tagged for it.

As Fontucky said, I'd get it anyway unless you have a strictly indoor cat.

My cat is strictly indoor and has a rabies vaccine anyway. I don't know why you wouldn't vaccinate, regardless of the law.
