Selling everything, buying an RV and traveling the country for a year?? The bf and I are considering doing it next year. Anyone done this or thinking of doing this?
go for it! it's only for a year, you know how fast that goes by. time sure does fly these days... I would visit every state if I could go. I bet Yellowstone would be fun.
We are really, really considering it. Just putting all our stuff in storage (or sell it) renting out the house and taking off and seeing what America is all about. We were watching a program on Yosemite and we were restraining ourselves from going and buying an rv that day. We went looking and the prices from 2 years ago when we originally looked have drastically dropped.
Live-it wouldn't be permanent. Just a years roaming vacay..
Once our kids are out of the house, I'd like to do what you're talking about, except it'd be in a sailboat along the Atlantic & Gulf coasts and the Caribbean.
We have thought about it because it is a great way to see our Country. Do it now and enjoy yourselves. It should be an experience for a lifetime and you will never had regrets about what you could have done.

I would think about maybe renting one first. The RV parks takes a certain personality to enjoy them. Last year I rented one took it from WA to SD - through 5 states - Yellowstone included. Camping in it was great/easy - (normally camping fancy is a tent - off the back of my horse) wasn't into the RV parks with people on each side of you.
For me after driving in the wind in South Dakota during a storm cured me of ever wanting to buy one. Luckly I was able to pull off the freeway and wait for a couple of hours - during that time a couple of RV's and a semi was blown over.... but I was on a time schedule and had to arrive at a certain point that evening. The RV trader is a good place to look or a car lot that took in a RV for trade - usually the price is lower than a lot.
