What if Diana Krall moved to the US (she's already there for all I know), recorded an album with ALL American musicians, all the lyrics and songs were written by Americans and she hired an American producer? ie. all she did was sing and the album was under her name.

Too bad Nickelback probably outsells them all combined . Why has no one mentioned Sloan yet?

Have you noticed that, when a canadian makes it big, they always somehow end up living here in the USA? Yet when the USA wants to make a movie, they go to Canada!

Many do because the music industry is larger and the market is 30x larger, so it's more convenient. They can also afford large homes in warmer areas. I mean, who'd want to live in Ontario if they can afford not to?

But many still stay in Canada (ie: Sarah McLachlan, Nickelback, Barenaked Ladies, etc).

I think the original question was not "let's make a list of Canadian artists", but "what qualifies an artist as being "Canadian content"?
