I am a UK Citizen and have been here in Canada visiting my partner who is Canadian. The plan was to initially visit for 5 months, however things have changed and I would like to stay longer. It is too late for me to apply for an extention as my time here will expire shortly - I do not have enough time to submit my application and get a response before my time expires.

My question is if I leave Canada to travel back to the UK........how soon can I come back to Canada as a visitor for admission for another 6 month period?

Thanks!!

Excellent question, Simplysweet3079!

I would think your best bet would be to telephone Citizenship and Immigration Canada and talk to an agent in person. The toll free number is 1-888-242-2100. Agent man the phones from 8 am to 4 pm, and CIC advises Thursdays and Fridays have less call volume than Mondays or Tuesdays.

By the way, thanks for respecting Canadian immigration law and following the rules; many could learn from your considerate example.

Good luck.

I am a Nigerian citizen applying to College and association of registered nurses of Alberta. I have been referred to Mt Royal college for a SEC assessment which will come up in December. How possible and how fast can I get a 3month visiting visa to Canada for the assessment? I am presently in Nigeria.

I would like to take my mother, who is a Thai Citizen and is currently visiting the United States on a ten year Visa, and has a valid US visa. She would like to vacation with us to Canada for three days during the second week of September, 2010. I am a U.S Citizen and so is my husband. Does she need a visa to enter Canada?

AFAIK visitor visa requirements are based on citizenship - not your visitor/residency status in a third country. Best to contact a Canadian visa office at the link below.

What is this 10 year US visitor she is on?

Countries/Territories requiring visas
Citizens of the following countries and territories require a Visa to VISIT or TRANSIT Canada:... Thailand....
