It really depends on what you do and what funds you bring with you. If you are a skilled worker (welder, construction, etc.) and you are bringing some disposible cash with you then Alberta is the place for you. Work is abundant but housing is one of the highest in Canada (hense the need for the disposible cash). Alberta also has the lowest sales tax in Canada.

Now if you have the money for a hefty down payment or to buy out right, BC/Ontario/Saskatchewan mioght be the places for you. Not a lot of big money jobs but housing is relitively cheap. If you can bring your mortgage payment down to like 5-600/mth then your laughing.

Avoid the east coast. Beautiful land and cheap housing but little to no work options. Many people from Ontario and eastward are moving to Saskatchewan and Alberta for work. I myself live and work in alberta but I'm not fond of flat, lacklustered land where the weather changes every 10 minutes. If you want Mountains and Northern rainforests then BC is home. If you want history and architecture then hit Ontario. If farming and wide open plains is for you then Alberta and Saskachewan fit the bill.

Hope this helps. Also check out www.realtor.ca to check home prices and www.jobbank.gc.ca for a list of employment oppourtunities and wages throughout Canada.
