I came across:

Quote:
The Swiss American city

Everyone always told me "Quebec is very european". I personally disagree. The Old Quebec did remind me of Switzerland and Europe in some ways but much newer. The typical little pedestrian streets are full of perfectly coloured little houses, all of them shops or restaurants: it actually felt like being in Disney World.

The real city

As I was saying, the Old Quebec felt almost fake and unreal. But as soon as you exit the walls, you discover the real city where locals live and hang out.

And it does look quite different!

Anyone else agree with her?

It looks European to an extent, but to compare it to Disney World's a pretty dumb and unfair comparison.

The old part of Quebec City is a totally functioning city with residents, businesses, offices, etc. It is not necessarily Disney-ish just because it is aesthetically attractive.

The most Disney-ish place in Quebec is probably the village at the bottom of the ski hill at Mont-Tremblant.

Disney = fake American commercial crap tourist trap, owned and controlled by a single owner with no competition allowed on the premises

Quebec City = an actual city with different property owners and a variety of competing businesses, residences, offices, etc.

I observe no such similarity at all... Since when being European equals Disneylandish?
That being said, outside Vieille Quebec, the city looks like a perfectly normal North American city.
