Are community colleges popular in Canada? (schools, campus, job)

I know Vancouver has one, and I think Calgary does too. But when I was in Toronto I didn't find any community colleges. Only polytechnic schools such as Humber, Seneca, Centennial, and George Brown. Are community colleges not as big in Canada as they are in the states? Why?

All those schools you listed are indeed Community Colleges - in that you can only attain certificates or diplomas as opposed to degrees.

colleges like douglas college and trade schools like BCIT are quite popular here in vancouver/lower mainland.

They are vastly popular in Canada, there are probably 10-12 in southern Ontario each with multiple campuses in other surrounding communities. The students actually graduate with job qualifications!
