This statement is wrong. These people very often have little in common with one another. I know lots of Somalians as San Diego has a large community of them. They have more in common with people in the middle east than they do with someone from Nigeria and especially South Africans.

Why because they practice Islam? So do half of Nigeria. And Both Somalians and South Africans have suffer the effects of British Imperialism/European Colonization. The Commonalities I was talking about run deeper than Language and foods.

It's actually more than that but please hold on to your Pan-African dreams.

The cultures are also quite different. Hell for that matter let's get scientific about it; people in Africa even show much more genetic diversity than all people outside of Africa since only two lineages ever left Africa.

But, Culturally and linguistically etc. a Somali is further from a Nigerian than a Swede is from an Italian. They are NOT the same nor that similar.

BHM is only 28 days, sometimes 29.(shortest month). Me thinks back in the day.....Strom Thurmmond, Jessie Helms and other Dixiecrats, buckled down and said..."Yea, let them have Feburary".

February was picked due to a lot of significant events that happened for blacks in that month.

While it is true that there are a lot of blacks in Nova Scotia, there are a lot in Southwestern Ontario especially in Essex and Chatham-Kent. Ever heard of Uncle Tom's Cabin?..............it's 20km northeast of Chatham.
Buxton, just south of Chatham has a museum hat is totally about the black history of the area. In the mid to late 1800s it had a population of 700 entirely black. It's own school, doctor, community centre, town council,,,,,,,everything. Infact at one point at that time a small number of white kids actually attended the same school. Every year it still has a home coming for ex-residents and their ancestors which still draws about 100 people a year.
They where all escaping slavery and many stopped at Windsor but many kept going towards Chatham as the slave bounty hunters would cross over into Windsor and smuggle them back to Detroit and then back down south. Chatham and area was too far from the border for that.
Chatham-Kent has a population of 110,000 and about 2,500 blacks nearly all of which can trace their history back to slavery days. Niagara was also the recpient of runaway slaves.
Canada has really had 2 waves of black immigration.............before and slightly after the civil war and then not til the mid 70s when Jamaicans and Haitians started to arrive.
In what most would view as the average historical AA, the overwhelming majority live in NS and Southern Ontario.
