Hi, im a fourth year student, my major is film studies (never ever touched equipments during school days cuz the courses focus on theories only), and second major is communication studies (how media influence ppl etc).

I do practice some 3D animations (MAYA), and some editing softwares such as Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, final cut pro, etc. my skill is a little beyond amateurs but still a bit far from professionals.

and about the other major, communication, I can only say im Bilingual (chinese & english), and I learned how to do market researches (quantitative), but im not native, so I have accent, therefore i consider this as my backup plan if I dont go far in film industry.

so right now im in Ottawa, thinking about relocating myself either go to vancouver (somebody say van is small-Hollywood) or Tonroto (someone says this city is a growing film market).

which one is a better choice? Since im international student here, im being desperately seeking identity & bound to this country. I know US might be a better choice but that green card is too hard to get.

PS. someone saying the film industry is dying in Vancouver, you have to build a strong relationship with professionals in there in order to be actually involved in something. this is to say that it is ****in hard to get a job there. But i dont believe it.

and, is there some job searching engines like Monster.ca in Canada? Im looking for better ones.

Vancouver would be better for animation. Pixar has opened an office and is looking for staff (Pixar Canada) and their presence will lead to more local growth in the industry. DigiPen and many gaming companies (The Gaming Industry in Vancouver) are also in Vancouver.

For the industry in general, go to Toronto. It's always been the largest market for film and TV work in Canada.

With so much hiring being done on the Internet these days, wouldn't it be better to find a job first and then move there?

You might consider Halifax, as well. There seems to be a fair bit of film and television work here, though very seasonal of course, and I don't think there's a lot of work in animation. But yeah, find a job first!
