You need to get here first, no one will talk to you over the phone unless you are a superstar.

That is so true, I am seriously considering relocating to Toronto from Florida and I've tried applying for jobs just to see what kind of feed back I would get. NADA!!!!!!!!! So even living in the United States, very few if any Canadian employers will even consider you if you don't have a work permit and mind you, I have an MBA. I am currently in the process of applying for a skilled workers visa but I first want to complete my accounting/finance certifications.

Your CPA will not help you get a job here and you will not get preferential treatment with CPA and will probably want to go for CMA or CA designations that will take anywhere between 2-3 years. Until then good luck sending A/R confirmations.

You might get a job with one of few companies that work the US and have to comply with SOX, if you know it , you will be invaluable asset to a company.

Thanks Krill,
I am aware that my CPA won't give me preferential treatments; however, I was not aware that the SOX (Sarbanes Oxley Act) will be a big asset. I am quite familiar with SOX and with that information, I am now looking into possibly being certified in SOX compliances.
