Also it's frustrating seeing so many illegal immigrants running around claiming our hard earned tax dollars and ruining neighborhoods. What cities have considerable asian population? I am a naturalized American citizen and wife is a permanent resident. As with USA taxes are high in Canada, but at least you get something in return unlike here in USA. If you have made this transition please chime in, I'd like to hear from you.
Toronto would probably be your best bet, The local Craigslist will give you an idea of job availability and housing/apt costs craigslist: toronto classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events

Also for any immigration info

I think generally most people immigrate because they think the place they are moving to is better than the the place they are moving from and not necessarily due to hardship.
And just because America has been designated wealthiest country in the world doesnt mean every American is wealthy, i think Canada should take any immigrants that qualify for Canadian residency status from where ever they may originate.
The break down of immigration to Canada.

I hear you. We made the move a while back for the same reasons you cite. Couldn't be happier having done so. Some of the whack jobs in these forums notwithstanding, Canadians are a remarkably civil and kind bunch. I live in Toronto which is reported to be the least friendly place to live in Canada, and have been overwhelmed with how generous people are. And don't worry about the taxes. Everyone knows they buy great health care, but they buy so much more. Great schools, great water, lots of public transport, cleanliness, sanity in the road structure, etc... Living here you just get the feeling somebody sane is in charge. Bat**** insane is about the kindest description you could use about the US. Canadians can't possibly understand what it feels like to be an aware American right now watching it destroy itself.

Anyway, if you can pull off the immigration, I'd highly recommend it.

I'm thinking about returning to Canada for the same reasons, the US seems mired in this devotion to political primitivism and economic brutality. Has gotten much worse, even under a centre-right politician like Obama.

Moving to Canada is an exciting opportunity but also a great challenge. You need to know what documents to bring.

Canada’s population of around 31 million people reflects a cultural, ethnic and linguistic mix that is unique in the world.

It is common to feel the following emotions when you first arrive in Canada like Discomfort,Helplessness,Frustration,Fear,Insecurit y,Uncertainty about how to behave and many more.

I am another American thinking about emigrating to Canada. Regardless of what life may be like in Canada it's a simple fact that the US can not go on like it has been. The Fed can only print money and the govt can only spend more than it has for so long. The enitlement mentality and corrupt politicians are destroying the nation. America is destined for a crash and it's going to be an extremely bad one. Why does anyone want to stick around for it?

That pretty much sums it up. There are over 300 million Americans. Sadly too many of them are so sublimely ignorant that they can't even read the writing on the wall. They fall prey to the government and their mass media enablers that assure them that everything is going to be just fine. It's sad and scary. Doubly so if you're the parent of young children.

Or we just aren't as paranoid as you people considering we survived the great depression and the great recession and are still the most powerful country in the world....

I'm not paranoid. You are arrogant and foolish.

"most powerful country in the world"

See. It shows.

Americans today are not like the Americans that survived the Great Depression. Americans today are for the most part soft, whiney pissants who live in the city and would be at a total loss to fend for themselves if we had an economic catastrophe. But it's not "if." It's "when." What are the people who live in the cities going to do when there is no food in the supermarkets, no electiricty, gas or oil for heat and transportation?

What's coming is going to make the Great Depression look like SUPER HAPPY FUN TIME!

I''m kind of glad people like you are so ignorant and unprepared. It will make life that much easier for myself and my family when it hits the fan.
