I currently live in US as a legal resident in the Washington state (I hold a "green card"), but I'm originally from Europe. I have no dental insurance and recently had to do a root canal, for which I was charged $1,300 that included a 2-hr appointment and a composite filling. I never knew that dental services are so expensive in the States!

So now I'm weighing in my alternatives for any future dental procedures. One would be to do it in Europe, which has an obvious downside of the air fare expense that would probably make it a wash.

But then I started wondering how much would a root canal cost in Canada? Since I live on the border with it (just a couple of hours of travel by car.)

I am obviously not a Canadian citizen and have never been there before. I'm inquiring about the dental costs for a walk-in type treatment for a non-resident. I know that they have a universal health care system, I'm just not privy to all the details of it.

So any Canadian citizens or people who know can help me out with this info?

Never had it done so can't talk about estimated costs.Universal health care does not cover dental. Most canadians need to get dental coverage as a benefit from their employer or pay cash.

Canada's not much cheaper for dental, especially the region you happen to live near which is an area with high costs for many things. You'd probably be better off going to Mexico for Dental Tourism, that's what many Americans do. I think there's some very nice dental clinics in Cancun who specialize in just that!
