Wente's article is about family structure, marriage practices, and single motherhood ---- not politics. Canadians appear to have more stable family structures but that doesn't mean they are conservative ideologically.
Like she says in the article many of the white lower-middle-class women who are single mothers are very conservative in their politics (which makes no sense to me).
Conservatives would never approve of the huge government in Canada and the regulation of everything.
