i want to do an intensive french course in quebec starting this autumn to acclimate myself to living in montreal . i've already read a few threads here recommending UQ @ Trois-Rivières,UQ @ Chicoutimi, Trois Pistoles, Laval University at Quebec City...etc. I'm also aware of the francization program and the j'explore. however i am not a quebec resident yet (newly landed canadian immigrant) and i need something more extensive than j'explore
Laval U. does not run intensive courses during the autumn. so it seems Quebec City is out.
Trois-Rivières and Chicoutimi and Sherbrooke U do, however.
Has someone attended either programs or indeed any other french intensive progarms in quebec and are able to provide their evaluation of these programs and locations? ideally, i would like to spend 3 months (minimum) or more in a highly francophone environment and hopefully somewhere not too rural or not to sleepy. then again, it depends on the quality of the program.
Help would be much appreciated, thanks.

When you say newly landed, did you have a Quebec selection certificate for quebec residence or wa your visa for the rest of Canada and you are now moving to Quebec?
The Quebec government provide these courses for free but you have to have the CSQ - there are various ones form in class speech only to in class writing, reading, and speech, to online courses with over 1800hrs of French - they are probably the cheapest and best route to take. Have a look at the MICC site.
hi qwrtyjjj,
my visa is for the rest of Canada but i plan on moving to montreal and getting to be a quebec residence requires around 3 months stay in quebec first. so i cant get on the francization program until then. and i want to immediately start an intensive french language course when i get to quebec.
thanks

It's a good plan, I like it very much! I wish I could give you a recommendation, hopefully someone else will be able to.
