Just got our Working Visas for Canada, moving from London. Looking for somewhere fun, vibrant with a lot going on. We love both the VIP party scene, and underground scene too sometimes- hip hop music, and sometimes house.
We're all graduates looking for work also- in accounting, sport & even bartending part-time.
I also love the sun however I know the winter is cold everywhere in Canada.
From what I've described- where can you recommend is the most fun and vibrant city for group of people in they're mid 20s??
Toronto or Montreal fit the bill. You should check both cities out and see which one you like better. If you choose to live in Montreal, you do really need to speak French.
Toronto is also an excellent choice, but it is more expensive than Montreal and might take a little longer for you to settle down. Once you get to know the city, you will find no end of things to do.
IMO, Montreal is a city most can visit and start enjoying right away. Toronto takes a little longer to get to know, but once you do it's at least as good a city for what you're looking for.

For fun, it's a no brainer: gotta go to Montreal. It's a bilingual city so you can get by knowing only English but I hear that you'll stick out more on the eastern part of the island if you only speak English. However it is REALLY cold in the winter there. Vancouver on the West Coast has a similar climate to London, maybe one degree cooler in the winter.

It's no so much a question of sticking out as it is about getting a job with no French. Even in the west end where there are more anglos you generally need to speak French to get a job. Getting by (as a tourist or as a resident who does not need a job) is not impossible knowing only English, although there can be the occasional challenge.
Montreal and then Toronto for sure. Montreal has better culture, entertainment, food and the savoir-vivre attitude. Toronto outside its downtown core is still too residential for a city of its size. Very one main street and all quiet residential side streets type of city.
All other Canadians cities are pretty much sleepy towns. A young guy liking to have fun will be bored.

How cold is REALLY cold in your sentence? (in deg. C) And for how many months of the year is it THAT MUCH cold?

Not addressed to me but from December 15 to early March temperatures in Montreal are generally between 0 and -7 C during the day and between -10 and -15C at night.
And the warmest months in Montreal are as hot if not hotter than the summers in Sydney or Melbourne.
Toronto without a doubt! Particularly the neighbourhoods that make up the West end, it's pretty much the definition of fun and cool and largely geared towards the enjoyment of people in their mid 20s.
