Not really. Just going along with the discussion for fun.

O Canada must be the most boring anthem in existence matched by the UK's God Save the Queen.

There's a B&B in Vancouver called O Canada House since one english version of O Canada was written there.

O Canada House —

From National Anthem: O Canada - Holidays, Celebrations and Commemorations - Topics

"Since then many English versions have been written for "O Canada". Poet Wilfred Campbell wrote one. So did Augustus Bridle, Toronto critic. Some were written for the 1908 tercentenary of Quebec City. One version became popular in British Columbia..."

Buchan version:

" O Canada, our heritage, our love
Thy worth we praise all other lands above.
From sea to see throughout their length
From Pole to borderland,
At Britain's side, whate'er betide
Unflinchingly we'll stand
With hearts we sing, "God save the King",
Guide then one Empire wide, do we implore,
And prosper Canada from shore to shore."

Is this a test to see if we're standing on guard?

Leave the Anthem alone.

I think the current Canadian anthem is much better. I like what it represents.

Agreed. The version I quoted isn't even true anymore. We did not stand by Britain's side in the Iraq war...thankfully.

That was my point. The current anthem represents every Canadian citizen.

I dunno. Who should you be on guard against?

Any and all enemies of the glorious British Empire and her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II! Especially revolting colonials, Frenchmen, and the Kaiser. Don't worry though, as long as you don't get too uppity over there in your quaint little corner of the world, there'll be no reason to put you through a tussle with one of the big boys
