A famous Wayne and Shuster sketch:

Patron: I'll have a martinus.
Barman: Don't you mean a martini?
Patron: If I wanted a double, I'd ask for one!

I enjoyed Wayne and Shuster. They once did an excellent takeoff on why Canadian cigarettes are named as they are: Export-eh, DuMauri-eh, Matin-eh, Craven-eh, and so on. (Mind, it worked better back in the 70s, when smoking was much more common and cigarette advertising was allowed.)

I read on Wikipedia that Wayne and Shuster were Jewish. How much influence have Jews had on Canadian humor? In the U.S., it has been tremendous. I once heard that the key to successful comedy writing was to "think Yiddish, write British".

Well,

here's three for ya, Howie Mandell, Seth Rogen, and David Steinberg.

All three are pretty funny, especially Howie

Default Wikipedia list of Canadian actors

Jon Steinberg is a Canadian Jewish Canadian

Wikipedia has a list of Canadian Jewish Actors and performers. I recognize three names of well known actors who often play comic roles. I don't think any of them do stand up comedy. So if this list is in any way complete, it would seem that the role of Jewish Comedy in Canada is relatively minor.

Eugene Levy
Howie Mandel
Seth Rogen

Lani Billard (1979 – ) television actress (Ready or Not)
Emmanuelle Chriqui, actress
Celia Franca, ballerina
Lorne Greene, actor
Kenny Hotz – filmmaker, actor, producer, director, journalist, photographer and writer
Mia Kirshner, actress
Sylvia Lennick, actress
Caissie Levy, stage actress and singer
Neve Campbell, film and television actress (Scream)
Jaclyn Linetsky, television actress (15/Love)
Spencer Rice – writer, director and performer
William Shatner, actor/director/writer
Anna Silk, actress starring in TV series Lost Girl.
Kyle Switzer, television actor (15/Love)
Al Waxman, actor

====================
Lauren Collins, television actress (Degrassi: The Next Generation)
Jake Epstein, teen idol/TV actor (Degrassi: The Next Generation)
Stacey Farber, television actress (Degrassi: the Next Generation)
Jake Goldsbie, television actor (Degrassi: the Next Generation)
