YAY! These are my malls. My Family lives in the neighbouring town, so I just hop on the bus which stops by both malls, and the shops on riverside (if you like a more upscale shopping experience)
But Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth, NJ beats them hand down.
OneLess do you live in Bergen County? Do you know what's going on withXanadu or Meadowlands or whatever they named that mall out in East Rutherford?
There's no sales tax on shoes and clothes (under a certain dollar amount per item) in PA or NJ, and the rate is pretty low in Erie County, NY (Buffalo) as well (I think the state portion isn't collected but the county portion is, so it works out to only 4% but I may be slightly off).

Jersey Gardens is bigger but the mall is dirty and not that great stores. Bergen County malls are among the best in the nation. Paramus is nr. 1 zip code in the nation in annual retail despite being closed on Sundays.
That new shopping and entertainment mall is still under construction. It may open next year.

0% sales tax on shoes and clothes in NJ, regardless how much you buy for.
0% sales tax on shoes and clothes in NYC if item is $110 or less.
0% sales tax on shoes and clothes in PA (not sure under what dollar amount)
I guess NJ is best for shopping then. I wish some Canada provinces charged no tax on clothing too.
no, Canada never ever misses an opportunity to charge a tax. We even pay tax on stamps. We pay much higher duty and fees for automobiles, and the airports are treated like some sort of milk cow. The "fuel-surchanges" by airlines are unheard of in the US.
We used to only pay 5% GST on utilities and service until the government decided that "why not charge more" and throw a uniform 13% tax on everything under the pretty name "HST". Supposedly it will lower costs for business and prices for consumers eventually, which of course never happened.
Some people think 13% is low and propose to revert back to 15%. I don't think I will stay if that does happen.

Canada has still lower taxes and sales taxes than Europe. At least you Canadians could cross the border and shop in the U.S. for either lower or no sales tax. What stinks in both countries is that sales tax is not included in the price tags.
