The thing that doesn't happen in Canada, at least I've never witnessed it, are Canadians yelling and calling each other names because someone is or isn't a monarchist.

The original question about immigrants does raise ones hackles because having non-Canadians who chose to come to Canada and try to change Canadian oaths before they are Canadian is insulting. It goes beyond the monarchy debate of whether we should have one or not.
Actually, your impression is wrong. Based on this thread, I can see that there are many who are against monarchy, but are not speaking out because they're trying to avoid the yelling and name calling that I've received.

Those immigrants are fighting to protect their human rights.

Thats some weird logic.. how could you possibly know that everyone in the world who isnt posting on this topic shares you view on the issue?.Yelling and name calling? please,if that were the case youd be running to the mod in short order.
Those 3 immigrants have the freedom of choice ,abide by a countries rules and regulations and become a citizen of that country ,or refuse to play the game and remain just landed immigrant status ...

On the flip side of the coin i'm sure if some immigrants were pulling the same stunt in the USA youd be apoplectic in your admonition of their stance, theres much one could be against in that Oath of allegiance one must swear to to become an American citizen..
Quote:
The United States Oath of Allegiance (officially referred to as the "Oath of Allegiance," 8 C.F.R. Part 337 (2008)) is an oath that must be taken by all immigrants who wish to become United States citizens.

The current oath is as follows:
I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.[1]

How is swearing an oath to the head of state of the country you are immigrating to, a violation of human rights?

470+ posts and we are all still wondering what the heck our op is going on about..basically at a guess it appears we have a poster from the USA with a totally irrational hate for the British monarchy and wants to share this irrational hatred with Canadians ,
The topic from a Canadian standpoint was basically answered in post 2, every thing since from our op is mere re worded fluff on the original outburst probably meant solely to prolong his vacuous topic,
At this point the only relevance in the topic would appear to be who can be the 1000th poster

I am a citizen of the United States of America. I have a fondness for many countries of the world and can surely count Canada among those.
I admire the Canadian governmental structure and actually am a bit jealous of the status in the Common Wealth of Nations.
The Monarchy of the United Kingdom is a rich and wonderful heritage. We in the USA might have been much like Canada but for historical turns.

I am repulsed by the trend that has occurred due to rampant immigration in the world. Let's face it; immigrants in the twenty-first century bare no resemblance to those of years past who came to new countries and brought their industrious endeavor with them. Today they only come for what you who have built your own country can do for them and they will even stand up and tell you that they will give nothing in return, not even allegiance. I find them generally despicable. They know in advance, or should, if they can read, what is expected of them to immigrate. They don't care, they are just among the greedy masses that do not even have the decency to stay and make their own countries better places for their own citizens. But they do come and shove their way through your door and start telling you what needs to be changed in your country.

If I criticize Canada for anything, it tends to be too complacent. We in the USA have a major problem with this issue that is costing us billions. I hope you do a better job of realizing that you have a right to be the Canada you are and quit allowing those who do not wish to be a Canadian among Canadians into your country.

They do not want to take any oath. It is not about the Queen. They want your prosperity but not the obligations of citizenship. This is a revolution of sorts and if it is lost one day all of our cities will look like the poorest third world squalor because these people are only motivated by personal greed and selfishness.

God bless Canada and her Queen.

Those immigrants do not have the rights of a Canadian citizen. They do have the right to choose another country.

Back in 1960 I was ten years old- I had been in Canada since I was less than one. I clearly remember being with my parents and swearing the oath...I still have the papers and I am almost 63 now...I also have my baptismal certificate from London England - I am proud of that - it was in effect my parents swearing an oath to Christ on my behalf- I like belonging to the club...I like the fact that I am part of the Royalty club headed by the Queen...and proud to belong to the Jesus club also- I like belonging.

For someone who claims to agree with my position, you're doing a heck of a lot to persuade me from speaking out against monarchy. And doing very little to encourage support for equality and democracy.
I made those posts to goad you. I was being sarcastic, but the joke obviously went WAY over your head. Why don't you re-read those posts. Don't you notice they're a little ridiculous. I mean, I thought the part about me infiltrating the US secret service to try and institute a Royalist agenda into American policy might have tipped you off, but apparently you took it all at face value. Pretty amazing. That's why I called you fn hilarious. Because you actually thought I was being serious and posted serious replies to my ridiculous posts. Either your BS detector is broken, or you're just playing all of us to keep this thread going.

I don't understand why anyone is still responding to dark noble's posts (yes, that's what his user name looks like to me).

It was established pages ago that he's just a troll baiting the board so why are some people still rising to his bait instead of ignoring him?

Sorry, but I think people who continue to tease and feed trolls are themselves no better than trolls. It's not nice to feed trolls in their instability.
