Along the lines of the "beers in the US" thread, I wondered what's available other than Ice Wines which is only type Canada wine I can get here in the US. It is hard to find any red wines from Canada to my knowledge, anywhere (even VT, NH or ME) in the northeast US. Is it due to customs or just that wine is harder to export? Thanks again all for your advice.

I could very well be mistaken, but the better Canadian reds -- which come from British Columbia in my opinion -- don't seem to make it very far out of British Columbia. If you can find a bottle of Superego by Therapy Vineyards, then you'll be in for a treat. It's overpriced, though. In addition to lower production volumes, which could well see them sold and consumed closer to home, the pricing of the best British Columbia reds may be why you don't see them too far outside of that corner of the continent.

There are lots of good reds now being produced in Ontario's three major wine regions, Niagara, EPIC ( North shore Lake Erie) and Prince Edward County. You should be able to find some of them in the north east US I would think!

It must also be a legal issues to not ship across border. I see a few Ice wines in Totalwine stores in CT, online searching them but no other way stores-wise, unless wineries can ship to certain US states w/out any issues? In AZ a yr or ago it was still able to find at least the Niagara Ice wines, I think, or maybe they were from Ontario? Anyway, as of now it seems hard to find Canada wine in the US. Thanks for all replies so far.

I spent the summer in The Okanagan last year and I asked about that and was told that it has to do with large taxes (I'm assuming from the US but am not 100% sure). The wines from BC seemed very pricey to me but I'm comparing them to AZ .

Ha, yeah, AZ is discount-Harry vs even the Pac NW -- or of course, W. Canada.
