Also what do you do, as a Canadian. As not to get confused for and mistaken for being a American instead of a Canadian, when in the world? Does it come down to clothes?

No I don't. Canadians and americans are exactly the same. Our trends and accents are identical (except for the Deep South). I have no issue with being mistaken as an american.

Sorry guys, just you hear how some Canadians do dislike being mistaken for being Americans? Especially in Europe. Some wear something, shirt or hat that tells them Canada, Not USA. Like a sports team one. I am sure administrators will move it or close this thread as they wish? BUT I DID NOT BELIEVE CANADIANS WOULD SAY SOMETHING LIKE NO DIFFERENCE?

I backpacked through Europe in 2004. It was a blast. I encountered many Americans who wore "CANADA" hats or had "CANADA" badges on their luggage because they did not want it to be known they were American. This was soon after the Iraq War was shown to be a farce (no WMD) and Bush was about to win reelection. Many Europeans were very upset about this and we encountered many who wanted to discuss/air their grievances, etc at great length with American tourists. I was upset too and agreed with most of them, but pretending to be Canadian would have saved us a lot of time over there!

That's been going on since the mid-sixties (Vietnam/Kent State) at the very least. Travelling throughout the U.K and Europe in the 70's and 80's it occurred often that local eatery and bar staff would often give a little derisive chuckle after asking my nationality. Upon being told I was a Canadian they'd roll their eyes and make some comment along the lines of "another American dodging the heat." I took to wearing my passport in a see-through plastic case on a lanyard around my neck and when getting the question would simply pull it out and show it.

It was a common enough practice that even Americans assumed I was just another hiding their nationality and would address me using a southern "y'all" drawl. Man that was something, I tell ya.

I've been asked numerous times in Asia if I was Canadian...especially in Japan. I usually live the dream in such cases and say Why yes I am.

Which reminds me of something I once saw on one of these boards...Chicago, the Miami of Canada.

After viewing a few threads on the Canada forum, I've come to the conclusion that you are American and posting these threads to rile people up. Very strange to me that you "feel" American. Tell the truth, where do you live in the US, and why are you trolling like this?

Most Canadians are not indifferent to this. Some of the posts on here are not typical at all of what most Canadians think.
